Our Winnipeg Arts Incubator
Art in the Heart of Winnipeg
Welcome to our Art Borups Corners Winnipeg Arts Incubator!
We're currently upgrading our systems during the week of November 27 - December 2, 2024.
Our program is a dynamic and innovative project where art meets the city. It offers artists a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of creativity, urban arts, and creative leadership. The collective has been delivering arts, music, oral history storytelling and professional development since 2021 thanks to funding from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse and Manitoba Arts Council Indigenous 360 programs and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
As one of our key partners and founding arts collectives for artsIncubator.ca, the Elmwood Union Arts Collective and Art Borups Corneers provide hands-on, immersive environments where artists and community members collaborate on projects that connect art, climate and the community in meaningful ways.
Cultivating Art, Community, and Innovation
Elmwood Union Arts Collective thrives in the heart of Winnipeg, embracing the dynamic energy of an urban environment to foster creativity, connection, and sustainability. Our collective serves as an experimental hub for projects that explore eco-conscious art, urban storytelling, and city-based climate entrepreneurship.
Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Elmwood, the program transforms the urban landscape into a canvas for artistic exploration. Through music, public installations, and collaborative art projects, the collective celebrates the diversity and creativity of our community. Elmwood’s rich cultural fabric inspires artists to push boundaries, experiment with new mediums, and connect with audiences in unexpected ways.
Participants are encouraged to engage deeply with their surroundings, weaving the pulse of the city into their work while contributing to a shared vision that merges environmental awareness with artistic innovation. By amplifying voices often unheard and creating spaces for dialogue and expression, the Elmwood Union Arts Collective is redefining what it means to make art in the city—building a future where creativity flourishes alongside community and resilience.
At the Elmwood Union Arts Collective, art takes root and flourishes in the heart of the city, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives to create a vibrant, inclusive artistic community. This initiative emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and social impact, transforming urban spaces into hubs of creativity and connection.
Collaboration: A dynamic space where artists, local residents, and cultural organizations come together to co-create, share stories, and explore new artistic expressions rooted in the urban experience.
Workshops & Residencies: Engaging workshops, artist-in-residence opportunities, and mentorship programs tailored for emerging creators, including Indigenous youth and underrepresented artists, to develop skills in urban arts and community-led entrepreneurship.
Community Engagement: Interactive projects and public art initiatives designed to spark conversations, build community pride, and amplify the voices of those shaping the city’s creative future.
Through the Elmwood Union Arts Collective, we nurture creativity while empowering artists and communities to redefine what it means to make art in an urban environment.
Dreaming of a Mural for 2025
We’re excited about the possibility of creating a vibrant mural in Elmwood as part of our 2025 spring and summer program! This project would allow us to connect with the community, celebrate local culture, and transform a public space into something truly inspiring. By collaborating with local artists and residents, we aim to create a mural that reflects Elmwood's unique identity while fostering creativity and pride in the neighborhood. Stay tuned as we explore this vision and work to bring it to life!
